This Privacy Policy explains how Global Language Project processes personal data when you use the Global Language Project Telegram bot and Telegram Web App.

What data we collect
When you use the bot or Web App, we may process the following data: Telegram user ID; Telegram username, first name and last name if Telegram provides them to the bot; selected interface language; selected language pair and CEFR level; current lesson; completed lessons; quiz attempts and quiz scores; lesson history by date and time; personal timezone or timezone offset; and technical logs needed to operate, secure and debug the service.
We do not request payment card data, passport data, precise location, health data or other special-category personal data.
Why we use this data
We use this data to operate the bot and Web App, show the correct lesson catalogue, save your language and level settings, open your current lesson, show translations and quizzes, save your quiz results, display your lesson history and statistics, apply your timezone to dates and times, allow you to delete your own user data, prevent abuse, fix errors and maintain service reliability.
Legal basis
Where GDPR applies, we process data mainly because it is necessary to provide the service you request.
We may also process technical logs and security data based on our legitimate interest in keeping the bot and Web App reliable, secure and functional.
AI, audio and external providers
Global Language Project may use external infrastructure and service providers for hosting, Telegram bot delivery, AI-generated learning content and text-to-speech audio generation.
Lesson content may be processed by AI or TTS providers in order to generate or voice learning materials.
We do not intentionally send your quiz history, lesson statistics or personal profile data to AI or TTS providers for training or advertising purposes.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
Your data may be processed by Telegram as the platform through which the bot and Web App operate.
Hosting, database, logging, AI or TTS providers may process limited data only as needed to provide the service, maintain infrastructure, generate lesson content or resolve technical issues.
We may disclose data if required by law or necessary to protect the service, users or legal rights.
Data retention and deletion
We keep user settings, lesson progress and quiz history while your account is active or while the bot needs the data to provide progress tracking.
Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for debugging, security and service maintenance, unless a longer period is required to investigate abuse, errors or legal issues.
You can delete your own user data through the bot's self-service data deletion function. After deletion, your personal settings, lesson progress and quiz history are removed from the active user data used by the bot.
Some limited technical records may remain for a short period in backups, security logs or system logs until they are automatically overwritten or deleted according to the service's retention process.
You may also request deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
Your rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, restriction of processing, objection to processing and data portability.
Where the bot provides a self-service deletion option, you can use it directly without contacting us.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
Global Language Project is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate parental or guardian consent where such consent is required by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect user data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration.
No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
